This golf and spa resort on 1,200 acres in the heart of Napa Valley wine country evokes the elegance and sophistication of days past. The place looks familiar because it stood in as a country club in the popular 1980s TV program "Falcon Crest." The main mansion, with slender, fluted columns on its wide porch, dates from the 1870s.
The cottages, housing 280 suites, are clustered around hidden courtyards and secluded swimming pools, and they line the fairways of the resort's two golf courses. The junior, 1-bedroom, and 2-bedroom suites have a patio or balcony, king-size beds, a kitchenette or full kitchen, a sitting area or living room with a wood-burning fireplace, and at least 1 bath. The standard suites have a king-size bed and a sitting area; most have patios. All the suites have air-conditioning, a mini-bar, complementary coffee and tea, a hairdryer, and an iron and an ironing board.
In the open-air kitchen of The Royal Oak, chefs prepare regional specialties using fresh local ingredients. Your dining is enhanced by renowned Napa Valley wines. The more modest Grill at Silverado serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and bar appetizers. The wine country cuisine there has an Asian flair. Sip a cocktail in front of the stone fireplace in the main lounge of the mansion. Then, step into the adjoining patio terrace for dancing and musical entertainment.
Named by Golf Magazine to its list of "Top 75 Golf Resorts in America 2004-05," the property has 2 Robert Trent Jones Jr.-designed 18-hole championship golf courses. Do you prefer tennis? With 17 plexipave courts, this resort is the largest tennis complex in Northern California. TIP: Make your court reservations before your arrival or you may find there are no open times on arrival!
The largest private resort spa in the valley was inspired by the classic Roman spa. Spend time relaxing in the steam room, sauna, and outdoor whirlpool. Fitness services include cardiovascular equipment, such as treadmills, recumbent bicycles, and stair climbers, as well as strengthening equipment and free weights.
